The arrival of the Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa – this is for Primorsky Krai historical event, as this year marks 60 years since the founding of Taekwondo. And 20 years ago, I myself was a member of the Far East championship in taekwondo, personally participated in the seminar, which conducted the founder Choi Hong Hi Taekwondo. In Primorye, are actively developing martial arts, our athletes celebrate not only their homeland, but also the whole of Russia, and the arrival of the founders of taekwondo in the history of the region will remain for centuries. The International Taekwondo Federation(ITF) starts the second revival in its home, Korea.
The meaning and prospect of the meeting between the president of ITF(International Taekwondo Federation), Choi Jung Hwa, and The Chairman of board of directors of Kukkiwon, Hong Moon Jong.
As International Taekwondo Federation(ITF) is ready for the second globalization of the Taekwondo in Korea, dispelling the disgrace called as ‘The North Korea’s Taekwondo’, the president Choi Jung Hwa is drawing interests much in this field.
According to the notice of ITF on 30, executives with the president Choi visited Korea recently, and they paid courtesy met The Chairman of board of directors of Kukkiwon, the home of Taekwondo.
The profession of Taekwondo sees their visit as they are willing to dispel the misunderstanding that the Taekwondo is the mean of communicating thoughts of the North Korea that is generated when the late Choi Hong Hee(the former president) came to Canada as an exile for political reason, and ITF wants to start the second globalization of the Taekwondo in the original country.
Especially, the president Choi met Hong Moon Jong, The Chairman of board of directors of Kukkiwon, and promised the cooperation with him in Sheraton Grand Walker Hill at noon on 29 in Seoul. And people close to the president Choi are saying that they agreed to raise the status of the Kukkiwon as one of the highest organization in the Taekwondo’s original country.
It is told that the president Choi said that ITF should correct what is noticed incorrectly as the North Korea’s Taekwondo, and the North is one of the 140 countries which spreaded the Taekwondo to other countries, and he claimed that now ITF should go back to its homeland and spread Korea’s ITF’s Taekowndo to the world with the Kukkiwon.
The president Choi and The Chairman of board of directors Hong agreed to develop WTF’s Taekwondo which is settled as sports and ITF’s Taekwondo as martial arts harmoniously.
Comparing WTF’s Taekwondo and ITF’s Taekwondo, the different point is that ITF has importance in Tul(Poomsae) like Chon-ji tul, Dan-gun tul, Sejong tul, Jung-gun tul and etc. And it is designed for practicer to accept the Korea’s history and culture naturally.
The president Choi also said that his father had the belief that he had to spread the Taekwondo’s spirit irrespectively in race, belief, and religion, and he made performance team and went to the North Korea and tried to spread the Taekwondo as national and traditional martial arts, but the North was just interested in political purpose so he cut off the relationship when he noticed this fact.
The team of Choi left Korea on 30.
Meanwhile, ITF was founded by the first general meeting with (9) presidents of relative nations in Silla Hotel in 1966. The late Choi Hong Hee, the first president of ITF, was member of nation’s forces founders in Korea and was the first chairman and the third chairman of The Korea Taekwondo Association and was ambassador of Malaysia.
Although he made the name ‘Taekwondo’, but he opposed to Yushin, the Revitalizing Refrom, and took asylum hastily in Canada in 1972, and spreaded the ITF’s Taekowndo to the North Korea in 1980.
Before he died, the North Korea called the representatives of each country for the reason of memorial ceremony, and the North Korea changed the memorial ceremony’s signboard to the extraordinary general meeting’s sign during the ceremony. And the North selected Chang Ung as the North Korea ITF president unilaterally and illegally saying that it is Choi Hong Hee’s will.
And the federation was driven by the North since that time. But recently, Jang Woong, the member of IOC, retired from the president and ITF’s Taekwondo of the North which has been maintained by him will be more isolated.
Therefore, every move of the president Choi is seemed to attract much interest because there are signs of escaping from the legal proceeding about management authority of ITF’s Korean branch recently and the main line of descent in the international profession of Taekwondo could be confirmed in this assembly.
